376 American nationals successfully evacuated from Nigeria to Washington DC (photos)


After being stranded at the Lagos International Airport, American nationals have been evacuated from Nigeria.

 

On Monday, April 6, 2020, an Ethiopian Airlines flight carrying 376 US citizens departed from Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, for Washington Dulles international Airport.

 

The chartered flight, according to the US consulate in Nigeria, left at 5:25pm Nigerian time.

The consulate stated that this is the first in a series of repatriation flights for American citizens out of Lagos, and more flights are scheduled to depart within the next few days.

This evacuation follows reports that American nationals were left stranded when attempting to leave Nigeria via the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

 

Additionally, 137 Canadian nationals were also successfully evacuated from Nigeria on the same day after facing delays at the airport.
