300-level FUGA student mourned by Buni and Lawan due to fire disaster


Expressing sorrow, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, extended his condolences to the Federal University, Gashua, for the unfortunate fire incident that led to the loss of a student.

In a statement released by his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, Buni lamented the tragic event as a significant blow to the university and its students.

He offered his sympathy to the bereaved family and the entire university community for the untimely passing of the talented student.

Offering prayers, he said, “The loss of this promising young lady is truly saddening. May Allah grant her forgiveness and provide strength to her family and the university to cope with this loss.”

Governor Buni urged heightened fire safety measures in all educational institutions within the state to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Highlighting the frequency of fire incidents in recent times, he emphasized the urgent need for preventive actions to avert future tragedies.

He also instructed the State Emergency Management Agency to supply essential relief materials to aid the affected students.

Similarly, in a separate statement, former Senate president, Senator Ahmad Lawan, expressed profound condolences for the devastating fire outbreak with a heavy heart.

He described the incident as a deeply sorrowful loss for the university community, the host community, and the family of the deceased.

Senator Lawan extended his sympathy to Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, the management, students, and all other victims of the calamity, urging the university to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident’s cause and implement preventative measures.

Tragically, Shamsiya, a 300-level Geography student from Edo State, succumbed to the fire.
