Zamfara’s Commitment to Supporting Families of Fallen Guards

Assurance of full support for the families of officers and men of the Zamfara Community Protection Guards who lost their lives in the fight against banditry has been indicated by Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state.

A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, on Saturday conveyed this commitment.

During a ceremony held at the Government House to honor 20 members of the CPG with gallantry medals for their extraordinary performance, the governor expressed his intention.

The statement mentioned that the recognized guards were under the leadership of the state Commandant of the CPG, Brigadier General Lawal Bature Mohammed.

It was also acknowledged in the statement that the 20 guards were actively engaged at the forefront combating bandits to restore peace in Zamfara State.

Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the guards and pledged comprehensive support for the families of the deceased individuals.

The statement conveyed, “Being honored is a way to inspire you to accomplish even more in this significant sacrifice you are making.

“We cannot adequately compensate you for your services to the state and humanity, but we can support and motivate you for your courage.

“I want to assure you that we have a structured plan for the families of CPG members who lost their lives in the line of duty. We will address all their requirements and provide them with essential assistance.”

In January 2024, Governor Lawal introduced the 2,645-member Community Protection Guards to address the security challenges impacting the state.

During the launch of the security guards in Gusau town, Lawal expressed his administration’s determination to eradicate banditry in the state.
