Zamfara NSCDC parades gang of motorcycle snatchers and deadly criminals

In a recent operation, the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) showcased a notorious gang and criminal syndicates involved in the theft of motorcycles along the Furfuri and Bungudu axis.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Sani Mustapha, confirmed that on April 26, 2024, the Zamfara operatives apprehended a gang of thieves attempting to snatch a Bajaj motorcycle from a commercial motorcyclist in the Gada biyu area of Gusau.

The individuals involved in the crime were identified as Abdulkarim Usman (29 years old), Aminu Ibrahim (28 years old), and Naziru Bala (20 years old), who conspired with Sani Samaila, a motorcycle dealer at the Yan Dole motorcycle market in Gusau.

According to Mustapha, these criminals used a hard stick known as Gwora to attack the victim with the intention of stealing the motorcycle. Fortunately, the NSCDC operatives intervened in time, saving the victim’s life.

The gang admitted to previous thefts, including selling a snatched motorcycle to Sani Samaila for N170,000, who had promised to buy any stolen motorcycle brought to him successfully.

Mustapha mentioned that two stolen Bajaj motorcycles were recovered from the criminals as evidence, and the suspects will face charges for their crimes under the Zamfara State Penal Code laws.

In another incident, Mustapha also presented a group of individuals responsible for causing public disturbance and setting ablaze the NSCDC’s operation vehicle during the Eid prayers in Gusau on April 10, 2024.

He revealed that this group, identified as Yan Fegi, sought revenge following a confrontation with another group named Yan arle at a gold mining site in Niger Republic.

The Yan Fegi group attacked the NSCDC operatives during the Eid prayers, resulting in the death of a teenage girl and injuries to several others. They also looted and set ablaze the Corps’ vehicle, causing further chaos.

Several individuals, including Samaila Garba, Mubarak Ahmad, Auwal Mohammed, and Babangida Abubakar, have been arrested, while others remain at large. Weapons such as dangerous swords, hard sticks, fetish shields, charms, and amulets were seized from the suspects.

Following a thorough investigation, the suspects will be prosecuted for various offenses under the Zamfara State Penal Code laws, including criminal conspiracy, causing harm, and possession of illegal weapons.

Mustapha issued a stern warning to troublemakers, emphasizing that the law will be enforced without hesitation against anyone inciting violence or obstructing law enforcement.
