Zamfara Government Takes Action Against State Security Commandant for Alleged Poor Funding

The Commandant of Zamfara State’s Community Protection Guards (CPG), Colonel Rabiu Garba (retd), has been suspended by the state government.

An official statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Mallam Abubakar Nakwadahe, announced the suspension in Gusau, the state capital.

The statement informed the public about Colonel Rabiu Garba’s suspension as the Commandant of the state’s Community Protection Guards, with immediate effect.

While no specific reason was given for the suspension, it is believed to be related to Colonel Garba’s recent radio appearance where he criticized the state government for inadequate funding of the Community Protection Guards.

During a live program on Vision FM radio in Gusau, Colonel Garba highlighted the lack of financial support from the state government since the establishment of the Protection Guards.

He pointed out the absence of any initial grant provided to them by the government and mentioned that the guards had received their salaries only once in the past four months.

Colonel Garba expressed concern over the financial challenges faced by the Protection Guards, emphasizing that it has hindered their effectiveness in combating banditry.
