Zamfara Government Makes Changes to Ban on Tricycles and Motorcycles

Responding to the plea of business owners in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has decided to modify the ban on tricycle and motorcycle riders. The ban, originally set from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, will now be enforced from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. This adjustment comes as a relief to many night traders who heavily rely on their businesses after dark. They expressed concerns that the initial ban was severely impacting their source of income, especially given the current economic challenges in the country.

The recent Executive Council meeting of the State Government deliberated on these concerns and decided to extend the operating hours to accommodate the needs of the traders. This new timeframe will enable them to conduct their daily legitimate activities effectively.

In light of the ongoing battle against banditry in the state, Governor Dauda’s administration has implemented various strategies. One such measure was the prohibition of motorcycles and tricycles from transporting bread in large quantities, as there were suspicions that such deliveries were aiding the bandits plaguing the region.

Furthermore, the Zamfara government also put a stop to the sale and purchase of petrol in containers, with a stern warning that individuals engaging in this practice would be treated as accomplices to the criminal activities of the bandits.
