Zamfara Government Adjusts Ban on Tricycles and Motorcycles Due to Night Businesses

Responding to the request of business people in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has decided to amend the ban on tricycle and motorcycle riders’ operation hours from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm to accommodate their night businesses.

Expressing their concerns, the traders emphasized that their businesses primarily thrive during the night, highlighting the detrimental impact of the ban on their livelihoods, especially in the midst of the economic challenges facing the country.

In response to these concerns, the State Government, during its recent Executive Council meeting, revised the ban hours to 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, ensuring that the traders can conduct their daily legitimate activities within this timeframe.

In previous efforts to combat the prevalent issue of banditry in the state, Governor Dauda’s administration has implemented various strategies.

One such measure involved prohibiting motorcycles and tricycles from transporting large quantities of bread, as it was suspected that these items were being supplied to the bandits causing unrest in the state.

Furthermore, the Zamfara government also enforced a ban on the sale and purchase of petrol in containers, warning that engaging in such activities would lead to individuals being classified as bandits.
