In a recent tweet, popular Nigerian singer Yemi Alade rejected the idea of being compared to her colleague Tiwa Savage.
Alade had shared her excitement about performing at the opening ceremony of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast when a fan commented that she was superior to Tiwa Savage.
Unimpressed by the comparison, Alade urged the fan to appreciate and support both artists, emphasizing that they are both successful. She asserted that comparisons only serve to steal one’s joy.
The fan’s comment read, “U better than Tiwa [Savage].”
Alade responded, “Comparison is the thief of joy. We’re both winning…. celebrate and support us all.”
