Yahaya Bello denies involvement in anti-Tinubu protests

Denying any links to the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests, the Media Office of former Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has refuted claims suggesting his sponsorship of the demonstrations happening nationwide.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Michael Ohiare, it was asserted that these allegations were part of a larger scheme orchestrated by adversaries of the former governor with the intent to frame him.

The statement which was made public in Lokoja read, “We have uncovered a high-wired plan by some disgruntled enemies of the nation and individuals part of the ‘Project Bring Down Yahaya Bello’, to falsely implicate him as one of the backers of the #Endbadgovernance protests across the country.”

The statement further expressed, “We would not have deemed it necessary to address a sensationalist criminal, a blackmailer, and pawn in the hands of anti-national elements, who propagated a false, malicious, and unintelligent report regarding the supposed involvement of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in the ongoing protests across the country.”

The rebuttal of these claims was emphasized as crucial due to the implications they hold for national security. Additionally, the statement highlighted the condemnable act of some protestors displaying foreign flags.

Referring to the allegations as “reckless and malicious,” the statement asserted that the former governor is a patriot who has dedicated his efforts to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.

It was highlighted that Bello played a significant role in mediating a potential crisis between North and South Nigeria, demonstrating his commitment to national unity.

The media office underscored Bello’s support for President Bola Tinubu, citing instances where he intervened in critical issues for the benefit of the nation and the ruling party.

Drawing attention to past electoral activities, the statement mentioned Yahaya Bello’s role in mobilizing support for President Tinubu during the presidential election.

Notably, despite being wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged financial misconduct, Bello’s loyalty to the ruling party and the President has remained unwavering.
