Woman reveals reasons behind tearing husband’s passport

After tearing her husband’s passport, Mrs. Igiebor has spoken out about her actions and the underlying issues.

She explained that their family problems existed long before they relocated from Europe to Nigeria.

A well-known content creator who often shares about her family on TikTok, Igiebor shared her reasons in a video on Monday.

She expressed, “This issue has been ongoing for a while, and I felt compelled to act. There is more to it than what meets the eye. I have endured a lot and have my own valid reasons.

“Imagine if I had done this back in Europe where we lived before. I did it in Nigeria to spare him unnecessary stress. People at the airport witnessed my actions that day. This has been an ongoing family issue. My husband himself avoids discussing it. I have suffered along with him, and now his family wants to undermine my endurance.

“Honestly, I did it so he wouldn’t go back (to Europe). I have endured pain silently. Many are unaware of my struggles. He tried to appease me with an iPhone, but the pain lingers. This has been a long-standing issue. He knows I haven’t truly moved on; I am just pretending.”

The woman extended her apologies to Nigerians upset by her actions and to Nigerian immigration authorities.

Igiebor also revealed that her husband neglected her for his family, stating, “My husband prioritizes his family over me, making me the one who suffers. I took that drastic step to make him realize my enduring pain.

“For those demanding my arrest, they should come forward and hold me accountable. I’ve shed tears silently after bearing three children. Let me bear the consequences of my actions. My husband needs to come clean and reveal the truth,” she emphasized.

Although Igiebor did not delve into specific details leading to the passport incident, she alluded to underlying family issues.

As reported earlier by NewsNow, Igiebor was captured in a viral video destroying her husband’s Nigerian passport shortly after their arrival at Lagos Airport on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

When questioned about her actions in the video, a visibly upset Igiebor responded, “Is it your passport?”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Immigration Service has initiated an investigation into the incident.

The NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, released a statement on Sunday regarding the matter.

“Following the circulation of a video on social media showing a female traveller damaging a Nigerian Standard Passport at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, the Nigeria Immigration Service has launched an official investigation,” the statement explained.

The NIS highlighted that her actions may violate Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), which prohibits the deliberate destruction of Nigerian travel documents.

The Act specifies penalties for such offenses.

The statement reiterated the service’s commitment to strictly enforcing the Immigration Act to uphold national security and protect Nigeria’s legal and diplomatic integrity.
