The Lagos State Police Command has detained Dorcas Oluwabukola for allegedly scalding her husband with hot water in the Meiran area, suspecting him of infidelity.
A police source from the Meiran division disclosed to The Punch that the suspect would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department upon completion of the investigation.
The altercation ensued after the wife became enraged when her husband attended a friend’s wedding without her, leading to her pouring hot water on him.
The police source also assured that they were overseeing the husband’s progress, who had been hospitalized since the incident, and pledged a thorough investigation into the matter.
A police source stated, “She poured hot water on her husband purposely because she felt that he cheated on her. They were supposed to go to a party together. However, the husband went alone. We are still monitoring the progress of the husband because he has been hospitalised since that day. He has not been discharged.”
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to NAN, revealing that it occurred on December 18, 2023.
Hundeyin mentioned that the couple had planned to attend the wedding together until the husband decided to go alone, leading to a heated argument and the subsequent pouring of hot water on the husband.
The police spokesperson added that the victim is currently receiving treatment at a healthcare facility while the command has initiated an investigation into the incident.
