Woman, 23, Allegedly Murders Husband and Burns His Body in Federal Capital Territory

During a confrontation in the Federal Capital Territory, a young woman named Rahimat Salaum, aged 23, reportedly killed her spouse, Shehu.

As per a report by PUNCH Online, Rahimat had intentions of absconding with her husband’s possessions when she was apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement released on Tuesday by Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Command, it was revealed that the woman confessed to the crime and guided the police to an unfinished structure where she disposed of her deceased husband’s charred body.

Adeh stated, “The officials at Pegi Police Division of the FCT police command, on July 29, 2024, at around 6:00 p.m., apprehended Rahimat Salaum, a 23-year-old female from Pegi, Abuja, in connection with her husband’s murder.

“The suspect was caught while attempting to escape with her handicapped husband’s possessions and had been missing for nearly three days. Upon swooping in, the police nabbed her in a small truck.

“Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to the murder following a dispute with her husband. She subsequently guided the police to an unfinished structure where she had disposed of the badly burned body.

“While the investigation is ongoing, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has assured that justice will prevail in this case. He has encouraged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police emergency lines.”
