Wife of 'killer cop' Derek Chauvin renounces any financial claims in divorce and seeks name change

The wife of ‘killer cop’ Derek Chauvin has made it clear that she does not seek any financial support from him in their divorce and has requested a name change through court proceedings.

Kellie Chauvin, 45, has filed for a “dissolution of marriage” from Derek Chauvin, the 44-year-old white officer accused of murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.

In court documents obtained by The Sun, Kellie stated that she does not seek any financial assistance from her now ex-husband, despite currently being an unemployed realtor.

“She is fully capable of supporting herself,” as mentioned in the filing.

Both Kellie and her estranged husband have waived their rights to “temporary or permanent spousal maintenance” from each other, as indicated in the court papers.

The former Mrs. Minnesota cited the “irretrievable breakdown” of their relationship as the reason for ending their 10-year marriage.

She disclosed that she separated from Derek on May 28, three days after he was accused of killing George Floyd by kneeling on his neck.

Kellie, who had previously worked as a radiologist at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, the same hospital where Floyd was pronounced dead, has also applied for a name change through the court with the papers stating: “As part of this proceeding, Petitioner shall adopt a new legal name.

She is seeking a name change solely due to this marriage dissolution.”
