Appeal for US Assistance: Detained Binance Executive’s Wife Speaks Out

Expressing distress over her husband’s prolonged detention in Nigeria, Mrs. Yuki Gambaryan, the spouse of Tigran Gambaryan, a detained Binance executive, has reached out for help.

In a statement to NewsNow on Saturday, she called upon US Senator Cory Booker and Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, who recently met with President Bola Tinubu, to intervene in securing Gambaryan’s release.

“The Nigerian authorities have detained my husband for over 30 days without any formal charges. Instead of engaging in constructive dialogue with Binance, they have resorted to baseless allegations against him. It is evident that he is being unfairly held as a tactic of coercion. While the congressional delegation is in Nigeria, I urge them to press for Tigran’s release and steer the investigation towards Binance through proper channels”, she emphasized.

Earlier in February, Tigran Gambaryan, a US citizen serving as the head of financial crime compliance at Binance, along with his colleague Nadeem Anjarwalla, were apprehended by the Nigerian authorities for financial transgressions.

On March 22, 2024, Nadeem Anjarwalla managed to escape custody, prompting a search operation by the Nigerian government.

Subsequently, Gambaryan initiated legal action against the Nigerian National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for alleged violations of fundamental human rights.

Recently, criminal charges were filed against Binance, along with Anjarwalla and Gambaryan, by the Nigerian government.
