Wife and two children of doctor who died of COVID-19 in Katsina tests positive

The doctor who passed away from COVID-19 in Katsina leaves behind his wife and two children, all of whom have now tested positive for the virus. The confirmation of their positive tests was announced by Governor Aminu Masari, who revealed that these cases were among 23 individuals who had been in contact with the state’s index case. This index case was the late Dr. Aminu Yakubu, a private medical practitioner from Daura who succumbed to the virus shortly after returning from Lagos.

Governor Masari shared that after the doctor’s demise, 23 samples were sent for testing, with three of them coming back positive, including those of the doctor’s wife and two children. The infected individuals have been taken to an isolation center at the Federal Medical Centre in Katsina for treatment. Additionally, in response to this development, Daura Local Government, the late doctor’s place of residence, will be placed on immediate lockdown. The governor also announced that some selected pharmaceutical and grain shops will be allowed to operate under strict supervision during this period.
