The president of the United States, Donald Trump, was evacuated this Saturday along with his Cabinet and the first lady, Melania Trump, from the dinner organized by the White House Correspondents’ Association. This was due to a failed assault attempt with firearms.
The suspect, named Cole Allen, 31, was identified by a US agent. Allen, a man from the Los Angeles area, has been recognized on social media as a graduate of the California Institute of Technology, where he worked as a part-time professor and video game developer.
The Secret Service stated that the suspect was armed with a hunting shotgun, a pistol and several knives and was arrested after opening fire on one of the agents, an event that activated the security device. It was President Donald Trump himself who published photos of the suspect on his social network, as well as the security video.

The motivation and profile of Trump’s attacker have left several questions surrounding the chaos and the reason for its execution. The president has described him as a “lone wolf and a person with serious problems.”
The detained Cole Allen, as already mentioned, 31 years old, was supposedly staying at the Washington Hilton hotel, where the annual dinner was being held. The chief of the District of Columbia Police Department has reported that the reason for Allen’s stay at the hotel is unknown. The agent also commented that the suspect is a resident of Torrance, a town adjacent to Los Angeles.
It is because of the global commotion that the attempted attack on Trump has generated that great interest in Cole Allen has been aroused on social networks. For this reason, the most curious have accessed his profiles on social platforms and have discovered details about his life and career.
Some LinkedIn posts show that Allen was named ‘Teacher of the Month’ in 2024. Additionally, on his profile he calls himself “a mechanical engineer and computer scientist by degree, an independent video game developer by experience, and a professor by birth.” Cole Allen has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and, in recent years, has worked as a part-time teacher at C2 Education and as a freelance video game developer.
However, the reasons that led Cole Allen to shoot Donald Trump remain unknown, as the President commented in a press conference after the event. An attack that is already the third against the Republican in the last 24 months.
