Israel-Hamas War: WHO urges Israel to withdraw evacuation order forhospitals

Israel has been urged by the World Health Organisation to revoke its evacuation order for hospitals in the northern Gaza region. WHO spokesman, Tarik Jašarević, emphasized the difficulties of moving patients in critical conditions, including those on mechanical ventilators and newborns in incubators. Jašarević described the task as “almost impossible” and called for Israel to reconsider its decision.

According to the spokesman, only four trucks carrying medical supplies have been able to enter Gaza through the Rafah border crossing, which he deemed insufficient. Despite more trucks being prepared on the Egyptian side, there are currently no guarantees of their safe passage to deliver the much-needed supplies.

The urgent plea from WHO comes in the aftermath of a deadly blast at a Gaza hospital, which claimed the lives of 500 people and left many trapped under rubble. The Israeli army has attributed the strike on al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City to a misfired rocket by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists, while Hamas has refuted the evidence provided by Israel.
