Wednesday marks the inauguration of PDP’s reconciliation and disciplinary committees

On Wednesday in Abuja, the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees of the Peoples Democratic Party are set to be inaugurated.

Recently, amidst internal conflicts, the PDP appointed former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the chairman of the Reconciliation Committee to address unresolved issues.

In a statement released on Friday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, also announced the appointment of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tom Ikimi, as the chairman of the Reconciliation Committee.

These committees hold significant importance for the future of the party as their efforts are aimed at reinstating the PDP as a prominent political force.

Ologunagba mentioned that the National Working Committee, after approval from the National Executive Committee, made the decision.

“The Committees will be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the National Executive Committee (NEC) Hall, National Secretariat, Abuja, promptly at 12 noon,” he revealed.

The party has appointed Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as the Secretary of the disciplinary committee. The committee members include former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau; former Ebonyi State Governor, Sen. Dr. Sam Egwu; and former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George.

Additional members consist of Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Alh. Abubakar Kawu Baraje, Chief Maxwell Okudo, Sen. Effiong Bob, Sen. Abdullahi Idris Umar, Sen. Olaka Nwogu, Sen. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, Gen. Aminu Bande (Rtd), Alh. Mohammed Imam, Hon. Chile Igbawua, and Mahe Dange.

Also included on the committee are Hon. Patrick Ifon, Barr. Tahir A. Shehu, Amb. Nuhu A. Bajoga, Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi, Haj. Zainab Maina, Chief Mrs. Aduke Maina, Barr. P.G.U. Madu, Abiodun Abdul Rahim, and Barr. Jacob Otorkpa.

The statement emphasized, “The NWC calls upon all leaders, crucial stakeholders, and numerous members of the PDP to maintain focus and dedication to the vision, principles, and aspirations of our esteemed Party for the overall betterment, growth, and stability of the PDP and the nation.”
