Wazobia Media’s Collaboration with Lagos State Government’s Ministry of Education for Remote Learning Services

Wazobia Media, comprising Wazobia FM and Wazobia TV, has forged a partnership with the Lagos State Government, specifically the Lagos State Ministry of Education, to offer remote learning services for students in Nigeria. This initiative was taken following the closure of schools in response to the Covid-19 outbreak in March 2020, a measure aimed at safeguarding students and curbing the spread of the virus.

To mitigate the disruption caused by the nationwide school closure and to better prepare students, particularly those in Senior Secondary School gearing up for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) exams, Wazobia Media and the Lagos State Ministry of Education have collaborated to provide free daily educational programs. These will be conducted by accredited tutors and aired on Wazobia Max TV channel UHF 57 from 2pm to 4pm, and on Wazobia FM from 12pm to 2pm, Monday to Friday, totaling 4 hours of learning material daily. The program commenced on Monday, March 30th and will continue throughout the school closure period.

Tatiana Moussalli Nouri, Co-Founder and CEO of Wazobia, emphasized the organization’s commitment to adding value through educational investments. The broadcast covers subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Financial Accounting, Biology, Economics, Yoruba, and Literature in English. Tatiana stressed that this unique learning opportunity during a global pandemic has enabled millions of students across Nigeria to excel in their examinations. She also encouraged parents and students to actively engage with tutors via call-in or WhatsApp messaging during classes on Wazobia Platforms.

Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo, expressed gratitude to Wazobia Media for aligning with the state government to provide an innovative learning platform for students during the pandemic. She highlighted the significance of utilizing communication channels with widespread reach among various communities, especially considering the limited access to online learning platforms for most students in the public school sector.
