Warning Issued by Lagos State Government Against Open Defecation

Commencing the cleaning of the Ojodu-Berger median which has been defaced by open defecation, the Lagos State Government took action on Tuesday.

A stern warning was also issued against this unhygienic practice.

A video shared by Tokunbo Wahab, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, showed ministry officials cleaning up the Ojodu-Berger median.

The commissioner wrote, “Lagos State commences clean-up of Ojodu-Berger median, warns against defecating on the road.”

The median along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has become an eyesore due to open defecation.

NewsNow disclosed in January an increasing trend where miscreants defaced the road median with feces, forcing pedestrians crossing the expressway to cover their noses.

The median from Berger in Lagos State towards Kara, Warewa, and Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State has turned into regular spots for this menace.

Residents in the vicinity had often raised concerns about the strong odors emanating from these locations, deeming them hazardous to personal hygiene.
