Warning from Kwara State Government about NECO fees and illegal charges

Senior Secondary School Principals in Kwara State have been cautioned against imposing illegal charges for National Examination Council registration for students sitting for the 2024 exams.

During the commencement of registration for the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, issued the warning.

A statement released by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary in the Ministry, disclosed that the approved total fee for the 2024 national examination is N28,500 per student. The breakdown includes NECO Fee of N22,250, E-registration charges of N1,250, administrative charges of N2,000, and other miscellaneous fees, summing up to N28,500 per candidate.

The Commissioner stressed strict adherence to the approved fees without any additional charges by the principals. Any violations will face legal consequences.

Modibbo-Kawu urged principals to uphold integrity during examinations and avoid involvement in malpractices, as the government has zero tolerance for such misconduct.

The Commissioner commended the principals for their cooperation with the Ministry to enhance education standards in the State, appreciating their efforts and dedication.

She also highlighted the government’s commitment to improving education standards by paying reaccreditation fees for schools and subsidizing BECE fees for JSS 3 students in 2024.

The Teaching Service Commission Chairman, Mallam Bello Abubakar, praised the Governor for prioritizing teachers’ welfare and urged educators to reciprocate by fulfilling their duties diligently.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca, advised principals to maintain their image by avoiding malpractices and ensuring a smooth examination process.

The President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools in the State, Comrade Usman Abdullahi, lauded the Governor for the positive transformation in the education sector and pledged to uphold their responsibilities diligently.
