Waldrum believes Super Falcons have what it takes to secure qualification ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics clash with Japan

Expressing his confidence, Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, remains hopeful that his team can clinch a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games.

In a closely contested match, the West Africans suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to reigning champions Spain in Nantes over the weekend.

This defeat marked their second in Group C following a similar 1-0 setback against Brazil last Thursday.

To keep their quarter-final hopes alive, the Super Falcons must overcome Japan in their final group stage encounter scheduled for Wednesday.

Waldrum is positive about his team’s chances against the Asian champions.

“Given the progression of the matches, securing a positive outcome against Japan was crucial for our advancement. Despite the recent defeats, we still have a pathway to the next stage,” explained the American coach.

“Our focus now is on securing a victory against Japan, which could potentially propel us into the quarter-finals, depending on the results in Canada’s group as they currently sit with six points.”
