WAEC examination to hold from August 4 to September 5 – Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, has revealed that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2020 has been rescheduled to take place from August 4 to September 5. This decision comes after the examination had been postponed earlier in the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new dates were confirmed following a meeting on July 6.

During a daily press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Nwajiuba announced the ratified dates and also indicated that the registration for the National Examination Council (NECO) will continue. He urged parents to take note of the new examination schedule and informed that school facilities will be available for revision classes as announced by the chairman of the PTF.

Nwajiuba mentioned that after the conclusion of the WASSCE, the NAPTEP and NECO exams will be conducted, with a month allocated for preparation. He also stated that efforts have been made with WAEC representatives to finalize the exam dates and local timings will be published soon. Additionally, he emphasized the continuation of NECO registrations for those who have not completed the process.
