Visiting Customs training school, Ogun NASS members applaud Abiodun’s initiatives

Commendations were showered upon Governor Dapo Abiodun by members of the Ogun State National Assembly caucus for his development initiatives, especially his endeavors to transform the state into a global aviation hub.

Following a tour of the ongoing Nigeria Customs Training School situated at the Gateway International Airport on Ilishan-Iperu Road in Ikenne Local Government Area, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salis, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, also praised the governor for playing a role in the establishment of the Customs Training School in the state.

Salis emphasized that the long-lasting impact of the project and the establishment of the institute demonstrate the positive direction in which the state is heading.

In his words, “Our purpose here is to assess the progress of the project, and we are thoroughly impressed. We seek to fully grasp the legacy project initiated by Governor Dapo Abiodun, and it is evident that the customs project perfectly complements the Gateway International Airport.”

“As members of the National Assembly and stakeholders representing Ogun State, we are here to offer our support to this federal project located in our state. We aim to aid in its completion ahead of schedule through appropriations and suggestions. We also want to provide feedback to enhance the project and express gratitude to the governor for positioning our state on the global aviation map, now also with the Customs initiative,” Salis added.

The senator also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the state-of-the-art Customs institution, highlighting its significance in supporting Abiodun’s developmental agenda and showcasing the state internationally.

“We have provided recommendations to the contractor and are pleased with the local input in the project. When we return, we will engage with the Comptroller General of Customs to assure him of our support,” Salis added.

He encouraged the contractor to prioritize digital compliance, renewable energy, and modern technology in the project to benefit future generations of Nigerians.

Additionally, Adewunmi Onanuga, the representative for the Ikenne and Sagamu Federal Constituency, lauded the governor for having a futuristic vision and anticipated that upon completion, the project could be the largest in sub-Saharan Africa, standing on par with international establishments.

Onanuga commended the people for cooperating with the contractor and lauded their engagement in the project, which has provided employment opportunities and promises to uplift their economic status.

Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, the member representing Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, recognized the governor’s efforts in attracting the project to the state, expressing confidence that its impact will not be confined to the immediate vicinity but will resonate throughout the state and the nation.

The team also included Joseph Adegbesan, Ibrahim Isiaka, Tunji Akinosi, and Femi Ogunbanwo.
