Visit of Obi to the family of kidnapped sisters in Abuja

Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, visited the Al-Kadriyar family, whose six daughters were abducted on January 2, to offer his condolences. During the visit, Obi expressed his concerns about the high rate of kidnappings in the country and urged the government to take stronger measures to address the issue.

Expressing his heartfelt sympathy, Obi mentioned the need for collective sacrifices to contain criminal activities. He emphasized the emotional toll on families and urged for more concerted efforts to combat the prevalent insecurity affecting the nation.

It was reported that 19 individuals, including six young girls and their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, were abducted from the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji area in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory in early January. Tragically, four hostages, including a 400-level student of Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a 13-year-old girl, lost their lives.

Following the incident, the father was released by the kidnappers with a demand for ransom to secure the release of his daughters. However, the police later arrested a suspected kidnapper, Bello Mohammed, 28, believed to have been involved in the abduction and murder of one of the victims, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar.
