Victor Oko Pledges Loyalty to Governor Fubara Amid Rivers Crisis

Recently inaugurated as the new Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko, has affirmed his allegiance to Governor Sim Fubara.

In his address to the press in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Oko emphasized the commitment of the new state assembly under his leadership to collaborate with Governor Fubara and serve the interests of the people of Rivers State.

Oko outlined the assembly’s dedication to transparency, community engagement, and ensuring clarity in their legislative activities, stating, “We will keep the public informed of our proceedings and ensure their active involvement in our work. Our priority is to work for the people of Rivers State.”

He further mandated the Clerk to inform the governor of the newly elected leadership in the Rivers State House of Assembly and reiterated their readiness to serve the people of Rivers State.

Despite initial controversy, Oko, a staunch supporter of Governor Fubara, officially assumed the role of Speaker after taking the oath of office.

Notably, two assembly members elected Victor Jumbo as the speaker, marking a shift within the assembly just two days after Governor Fubara dismissed the existence of a purported majority group of 27 members who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
