Victim of ARM Pension rape remains unresponsive

The incident involving a female employee of ARM Pension Managers (PFA) Ltd., who was reportedly raped by a colleague during a company event, has been addressed by the Lagos State Government.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Cecilia Dada, revealed this information in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.

In addition to the detention and prosecution of the accused executive director, who is currently in police custody, WAPA is also focusing on the emotional and psychological well-being of the victim.

The victim, who has isolated herself and declined to communicate with anyone, is being offered assistance by WAPA to address her needs.

Upon learning of the rape allegation, the Lagos State Government promptly engaged with the company to support the victim.

WAPA has been informed by the company that they have enlisted the help of a psychologist to counsel the victim and have employed a private investigator, who is collaborating with the police on the case.

The commissioner emphasized the cooperation between her ministry and the police to ensure justice for the victim, reaffirming the commitment of Lagos State to combat domestic and gender-based violence.

Despite several attempts to reach out to the victim, she remains unresponsive to calls from concerned parties.

While the accused individual is already in police custody,

it is expected that once the police conclude their investigations, he will be brought to court for prosecution.

Efforts by counselors and social workers to reach the victim have been unsuccessful, but the company’s assurance of providing psychological support has been noted,” the commissioner stated.

Dada assured that the state government will continue to monitor the victim and ensure she receives the necessary assistance to help her navigate through this difficult time.

In a report to ARM Pensions Managers Ltd., the victim demanded the arrest of the accused executive director,

alleging that he had taken her to a hotel after an official party and engaged in sexual activity without her consent.

She claimed that her drink had been drugged before she was taken against her will to a popular hotel on Chevron Drive, Lagos, where the assault occurred.

Upon waking up in the hotel room with physical signs of abuse, she reported the incident to the Head of HR, Managing Director, and another executive director.

She urged the Lagos State Government to take decisive action in prosecuting the perpetrator and any other individuals involved in the incident.
