Verdict to be handed down today for Abiodun and Adebutu

Today (Friday), the final decision regarding the Ogun State governorship election will be delivered by the Supreme Court.

The victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress in the March 18, 2023 governorship election is being challenged by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Ladi Adebutu.

Last week Thursday, a panel of five Supreme Court justices led by Justice John Okoro reserved judgment in the case after the final briefs were presented by the parties.

Tunde Oladunjoye, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ogun State, expressed confidence in the party’s victory.

Speaking on behalf of the APC, Oladunjoye stated, “Election petition cases are litigated in court, not in the media. The PDP and its successive gubernatorial aspirants lost the elections when the people of Ogun refused to take a chance with the future of our state. They lost at the tribunal when the judges unanimously affirmed the election of Prince Dapo Abiodun. They also lost at the Court of Appeal and are consequently poised to lose at the highest court, as you cannot build something on nothing.”

Dr. Sunday Solarin, the Ogun PDP Publicity Secretary, also expressed optimism about the victory in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election, stating, “Our strong confidence in winning the gubernatorial election of March 18, 2023 is not just a wish but a steadfast belief in hard work, acceptability, and sincerity of purpose.”
