Usman Okai Austin Criticizes Governor Ododo for Kogi’s Lack of Progress Despite Increased Allocations

In the upcoming 2023 elections, Usman Okai Austin, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has lambasted the state government for its failure to deliver development despite receiving more funds from the federation account since President Bola Tinubu assumed office.

According to Okai, the people of Kogi State are increasingly disheartened due to the government’s perceived indifference to their suffering in the face of challenging economic circumstances.

Okai pointed to the removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent rise in inflation as key factors contributing to the hardships faced by the citizens.

He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in government spending, citing a lack of tangible progress in Kogi compared to neighboring states that receive similar allocations.

Highlighting the issue of partial salaries for local government workers despite the state’s reported financial windfall, Okai called for responsible management of public funds to address such discrepancies.

Expressing concerns about the lack of development under Governor Bello’s leadership, Okai urged for a change in governance to better cater to the needs of the people in Kogi State.
