US firm begins assembling electric cars at Lagos plant

American electric vehicle manufacturer, Saglev, has started assembling electric cars at its assembly plant in Ikorodu, Lagos.

This milestone was announced through a video shared by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, on Thursday, June 27.

According to Saglev’s Chief Executive Officer, Sam Faleye, the electric vehicles can cover an impressive 300km on a single charge, equivalent to driving from Oshodi to Ajah in Lagos 10 times.

Faleye also highlighted the convenience of charging these vehicles, which only requires once or twice a week, with a full charge taking approximately four hours using a level two charger.

The caption reads: “It is great to see #saglev has commenced the production of electric cars at its state-of-the-art assembly plant in Ikorodu, Lagos.”
