Urgent Meeting Held by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, NSA, and Ministers in Response to Nationwide Protest Plans


Currently, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, is in an emergency meeting with ministers to address the upcoming nationwide protest aimed at highlighting economic challenges.

This closed-door meeting has gathered all over 40 ministers from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

Some of the Ministers present include Nyesom Wike (FCT), Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Zephaniah Jisalo (Special Duties), Tahir Mamman (Education), and Abubakar Bagudu (Budget and Planning).

Also in attendance are Wale Edun (Finance), Mohammed Idris (Information), Bello Matawalle (Defence), David Umahi (Works), and the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, among others.

On Tuesday, the President had appealed to Nigerians to reconsider the #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled to start on August 1.

The protest, organized by unidentified individuals, has gained momentum on social media and is set to take place in all 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
