Upholding High Standards of Professionalism: COAS Charges Officers

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, has urged the graduating officers of Logistics Staff Course 21 of 2024 at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, NACOLM, to maintain the exceptional levels of professionalism and excellence instilled in them during their training.

In a statement, Major George Okupe, the College PRO, commended the officers for their dedication and stressed the critical role of logistics in modern military operations. He called on the graduands to uphold these values as they assume new responsibilities.

The graduation ceremony, which took place on August 9, 2024, at the TY Buratai Hall of the NACOLM permanent site in Ojo, Lagos, marked a significant milestone in the professional growth of 32 middle cadre officers.

General Lagbaja, represented by Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, praised the commandant, faculty, and the entire college community for effectively fulfilling the college’s mission. He underscored the importance of training more officers to fill logistics roles in various Army Headquarters’ departments, formations, and units, crucial for sustaining efficient operations nationwide.

The General urged NACOLM to continue enhancing its efforts in this vital area to ensure success.

General Lagbaja reaffirmed his command’s commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force capable of fulfilling constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.

In his opening remarks, Major General Wisdom Etuk, the commandant of NACOLM, highlighted that the college is graduating 32 officers, including 29 officers from the Nigerian Army, one officer each from the Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force, and an allied officer from the Gambia Army.

He emphasized that the presence of the allied officer demonstrates the Chief of Army Staff’s dedication to strengthening military relations and enhancing regional security, particularly in West Africa.

Major General Etuk assured the COAS that the graduates are well-equipped to meet the leadership and staff requirements of the Nigerian Army, encouraging them to continue building on the professional groundwork laid during their training.

The ceremony also involved the presentation of certificates, awards, and honors, as well as the induction of graduates into the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSM) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
