UNICEF Head of Communication in Kano Passes Away; Son Indicates COVID-19 Symptoms


Rabiu Musa, the head of Communications at the UNICEF field office in Kano state, has passed away at the age of 60. He succumbed to a brief illness on Saturday, May 2.

 

The deceased’s son, Musa Rabiu, disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN that his father had been battling an illness that lasted a few days and exhibited symptoms of COVID-19.

 

“My dad passed away at about 3 a.m on Saturday after struggling with a sickness for a few days. Although we observed symptoms that we suspect to be of coronavirus, the test results are pending.

“A week ago, he complained of sore throat and malaria, but after a few days of medication, he recovered. However, a few days later, he reported having difficulty breathing and feeling breathless even after short walks. He was admitted to the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Dala on Friday where he eventually passed away,” the son revealed.

 

Rabiu is survived by seven children and one wife. His demise adds to the growing number of prominent figures in Kano who have lost their lives during the Coronavirus pandemic.

 

A friend of the deceased expressed their condolences on Facebook on Saturday evening.
