UNICAL VC urges Brotherhood Scholars to expand scholarships

The Vice-Chancellor, University of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Banku Obi, has called on members of the Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, to extend its scholarship programmes to many more students.

She made the call when the group, led by the International President, Hon Ekuma Ngwu, visited her to mark the 45th-anniversary celebration of the association with the theme of behavioural change.

Professor Obi, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Eno Nta, applauded the association on its advocacy approach to behavioural change, adding that the intervention programmes on various institutions to aid students should be sustained.

She congratulated the group on its 45th-anniversary celebration and urged it to consolidate its peace advocacy and other goal-oriented programmes.

She encouraged the group to keep organising impactful programmes that are beneficial to the academic community and society at large.

Earlier, the International President of the association, Ngwu, expressed immense appreciation to the academic don for the privilege of interacting with the student group.

He said, “It is my pleasure to inform you that the highpoint of the 45th Anniversary is a mega campus conference on behavioural change, billed to be held at the University of Calabar. The event will be well attended by scholars, academic dons, religious scholars and students of various institutions from all over the world.”

He assured that his group would persist in giving out more scholarships to undergraduates and impact positive behavioural changes in students.
