A recently surfaced video has revealed a terrifying incident involving the arrest of NFL player Bashaud Breeland.
The recording depicts how the arrest on Tuesday almost took a tragic turn.
During the encounter, 28-year-old Breeland displayed non-cooperative behavior when approached by a police officer for questioning. This refusal led to a confrontation that intensified to the extent that the officer drew a gun and aimed it mere inches away from the NFL player’s face.
Witnesses were deeply concerned for Breeland’s safety, urging him to cease resisting.
The arrest took place on Tuesday, April 28, around 11 AM at a gas station in South Carolina after a deputy from the York County Sheriff’s Office claimed to have observed K.C. Chiefs player and two other men smoking marijuana.
The officer alleged that Breeland became confrontational when stopped for questioning.
In the footage, the officer made multiple attempts to handcuff the Chiefs cornerback, but Breeland consistently refused.
At one point in the video, the officer aimed a taser at Breeland’s back and instructed him to stop resisting.
“Put your hands behind your back or you will get tased,” warned the officer. “Turn around and face away from me! You’ll get tased!”
However, Breeland disregarded the officer’s commands. In another distressing turn of events, he managed to escape from the officer and entered his vehicle.
Subsequently, the officer drew his gun and held it mere inches from Breeland’s face, shouting, “Let me see your hands! … I’m not playing!”
Eventually, Breeland exited the car, lay on the ground, and allowed the officer to handcuff him.
Breeland was then taken into custody and booked on four charges, including resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
