Barcelona fined by UEFA for fans’ racist conduct

Barcelona has been issued a 25,000 euros ($26,680) fine by UEFA due to racist behavior displayed by their fans, which led to two supporters being questioned by the police following their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

In addition to the fine, Barcelona has also been handed a ban on selling tickets to their supporters for their upcoming away European game. However, this punishment has been suspended for a year.

Barcelona faced a 6-4 aggregate defeat against PSG after losing the second leg 4-1 on Tuesday.

Reports from Paris police on April 10 confirmed that two individuals were questioned following the circulation of videos on social media showing a supporter making monkey noises and another engaging in Nazi salutes at the Parc des Princes.

UEFA stated, “The UEFA Appeals Body decided to impose a 25,000 euros fine on FC Barcelona and to prohibit the club from selling tickets to its away supporters for the next UEFA competition match due to the racist conduct of its fans.”
