UCL: EPL Left Disappointed as Italy and Germany Secure Five Slots for Upcoming Season

For the next season’s Champions League, both Italy and Germany have been granted five slots respectively.

This confirmation came following Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.

The outcome solidified Bundesliga’s position as the second-highest league in UEFA’s coefficient rankings for this season.

Meanwhile, Serie A had already locked in the top spot last month, guaranteeing their five slots as well.

With this, it is now impossible for the remaining challengers, England and France, to surpass Serie A and Bundesliga in the rankings.

The European Performance Spots, which are awarded to the two leagues displaying the best average performance across the three European competitions each season, will see these two leagues receiving an additional spot. This comes as part of the revamp aimed at expanding the Champions League to a 36-team competition.
