Two Nigerian Officials Chosen by CAF for WAFU Cup


Among the referees and assistant referees selected for the 2024 WAFU ‘B’ qualifiers by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), two are Nigerians.

Salisu Basheer is part of the group of seven referees designated for officiating at the tournament.

His counterpart, Muhammad Yakubu, has been appointed as an assistant referee.

The competition is scheduled to take place in Ghana from May 15 to 29, 2024.

The participating teams include the reigning champions Nigeria, host country Ghana, as well as Cote D’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, Togo, and Burkina Faso, who will be competing for the title.

Additionally, this tournament will serve as a qualification event for the forthcoming Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
