Two individuals including son of Ogun community leader killed by suspected cultists

On Friday night, suspected cultists reportedly carried out a fatal attack, resulting in the death of 48-year-old PoS operator, Fatai Kehinde, under the Kuto bridge in Abeokuta.

Fatai, known as Faithy and the son of the Baale of Kuto Community, Abeokuta, was pursued by his assailants from his shop in Kuto market to underneath the bridge.

This incident follows the recent murder of a young barber in Isale Oja Kuto a few days prior.

It is believed that the victims were targeted by a rival cult group, as the attackers who killed the barber were reported to have used the same vehicle in Friday’s attack.

Fatai was laid to rest on Saturday around 2 pm.

A reliable source from the Kuto community disclosed, “The incident occurred at approximately 11 pm last night.

“Faithy, the son of the Baale of Kuto, was operating his POS business when the assailants arrived just as he was closing for the day.”

The source explained, “One of them posed as a customer intending to withdraw money, while three others wearing masks emerged and opened fire on their target.

“Despite the initial shot missing, Fatai attempted to flee but was caught under Kuto bridge where he was mercilessly butchered.

“It is suspected that the group responsible for Faithy’s murder is the same gang involved in the recent barber killing at Isale Oja Kuto, as they were reportedly using the same jeep for both attacks.”

Confirming the incidents, Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, stated, “The command is aware of the two incidents and is actively pursuing the perpetrators.”
