Resurfaced old tweets show US President Donald Trump criticizing former President Barack Obama for golfing during the Ebola crisis.
Over the weekend, Trump was photographed playing golf, just days after ordering state governors to allow people to attend churches and other places of worship, despite the US death toll from the Coronavirus pandemic reaching 100,000.
While playing at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, the Secret Service agents accompanying him wore masks, whereas the president and his golf partners did not. Trump also rode alone in his golf cart without a caddy.
Trump’s first appearance on the golf course was on Saturday, reportedly playing some golf before engaging in further extensive golfing on Sunday, even waving to the press at one point.
Trump’s golfing over the weekend sharply contrasts with his previous condemnations of Obama for golfing in 2014 after a second case of Ebola was confirmed in the United States.
At the time, Trump criticized Obama’s golfing on Fox and Friends, stating that as president, one should focus on the job and give up leisure activities for a few years, as it could send the wrong signal.
He also made tweets deriding Obama. Fast forward six years later, Trump was pictured golfing as the US Coronavirus death toll reached 100,000.
Trump’s old tweet has since gone viral as he’s being called a hypocrite for engaging in the very activity he criticized Barack Obama for in 2014.
