Troost-Ekong returns to action for PAOK after lengthy injury layoff

Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong played his first game in seven months in PAOK Salonica’s friendly against AEK Larnaca.

The Greek Super League champions won the game 2-1.

Troost-Ekong was sidelined after undergoing surgery for an injury he sustained at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The 30-year-old returned to training towards the end of last season but was not considered fit enough to play for the club.

The centre-back was also left out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic due to fitness concern.

He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
