A 21-year-old mother of two from Texas tragically passed away in a car wreck after leaving a suicide note on Facebook.
Olivia Popham was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra when she collided with Travis Pittman, 33, of Winona, who was driving a 2012 Ford pickup. The collision occurred when Popham’s Nissan crossed the center line and struck the pickup head-on, as per a press release.
Popham was pronounced dead at the scene, while Pittman was taken to UT Health in Athens for treatment of his injuries by EMS personnel.
“The investigation is still ongoing, and there is no other information available at this time,” the press release stated.
Popham had been struggling with severe depression and had been sharing messages on Facebook in the months leading up to her tragic passing.
Family and friends also revealed that she was facing significant challenges with her children’s father and the responsibility of caring for her children alone.
Additionally, she received threatening fake text messages from someone posing as child protective services, as reported by SocietyAlert.
In one of her messages, she fervently implored for her kids not to be handed over to their father.
“If anything ever happens to me DO NOT give my kids to their dad permanently because if while I was alive you couldn’t help take care of them then why wait till I’m gone,” she wrote.
Her final message read: “Checking out, I’m sorry, but I can’t keep battling depression. To the ones that were there, I love y’all. If I do succeed at this, please make sure my kids are ok please “
