Tragic Road Accidents Claim Three Lives in Osun State

Two separate road accidents in Aagba and Sekona in Osun State resulted in the loss of three lives and left 22 other commuters injured on Sunday.

Reports indicate that the incident involved a motorcycle carrying three individuals and a private car driven by a man who fled the scene following the collision.

The three individuals who lost their lives were passengers on the motorcycle.

Public Relations Officer of Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the accident and stated that officers from the command had visited the scene.

Adeleke mentioned, “The accident involved a Toyota Camry and a motorcycle with plate number AKD 810 QX. The crash tragically claimed the lives of three individuals on the motorcycle.

Meanwhile, in another accident in Sekona on the Osogbo-Gbongan expressway on the same day, 22 people sustained injuries of varying degrees.”

Providing more information about the Sekona crash, Adeleke explained, “The accident occurred when a Toyota Hummer bus left its lane and collided head-on with a vehicle from the opposite direction.

“The driver of the Toyota Hummer bus had fallen asleep while driving. Several men, women, and children suffered injuries and fractures, with the driver of the Toyota Hummer bus sustaining fractures in both legs.

“Three individuals in the Fiat Van and 19 passengers in the Toyota Hummer bus were injured. They were promptly taken to Sekona Government Clinic for initial treatment before being transferred to UNIOSN Teaching Hospital for further medical care by a Government ambulance.”

Expressing concern about the high number of auto accidents during the festive season, the Osun NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. Michael Adaralewa, urged the public to avoid reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He stressed the importance of exercising caution and restraint while driving.
