Tragic News from Jigawa State: Second COVID-19 Fatality Recorded as Expectant Wife of Deceased Lagos Returnee Passes Away

Another life has been claimed by the Coronavirus in Jigawa State.

 

On Sunday night, May 3, the state’s Commissioner for Health, Abba Zakari, disclosed to Freedom Radio that a second death had occurred. The victim was a pregnant woman residing in the Miga Local Government Area of the state. She tragically bled to death due to a miscarriage at the Dutse Isolation Center. Her husband, who was a returnee from Lagos and a resident of Fanisau community in Dutse Local Government Area, had previously succumbed to the disease.

 

Zakari, who also serves as the chairman of Jigawa taskforce on COVID-19, revealed that the deceased had been admitted to two different health facilities in the state before testing positive for COVID-19. She had preexisting medical conditions and is believed to have contracted the virus from her husband upon his return from Lagos.

 

The deceased has been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.

 

Jigawa state is currently dealing with 7 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
