Confirming the devastating news, Mariah Carey, the American singer, revealed that her mother, Patricia, and her sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day over the weekend.
In a statement released on Monday, the multiple Grammy award-winning artist did not disclose the causes of death for either of the women or the specific day on which it occurred.
“Over the past weekend, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my mother. Sadly, on that same day, my sister also lost her life in a tragic twist of events. I am grateful for the opportunity to have spent the final week with my mother before her departure,” Carey expressed.
Prior to the unfortunate events, Mariah Carey’s mother, Patricia, who was a renowned opera singer, had collaborated with her daughter in the music industry.
It has been revealed by the singer in the past that her mother was the driving force behind her successful music career.
However, Carey maintained a distant relationship with her sister, Alison, as per records.
As per a report from Variety, Carey shared in her memoir that she believed it was better for her emotional and physical well-being to maintain no contact with her sister, Alison, and her brother, Morgan.
Furthermore, it is remembered that Carey’s father, Alfred Roy Carey, had passed away from cancer back in 2002.
