Tragic Lagos gas explosion claims one life and injures three others

Reports indicate that a fatal gas explosion in Lagos resulted in the death of a man and injuries to three others in a multi-story building.

 

The incident took place at number 13C, Palmgroove Estate, Cappa Avenue, off Ikorodu road, at approximately 6pm on Monday, July 27.

 

Investigations reveal that the explosion was caused by a gas leak from a cylinder used to fill the building’s air conditioner.

 

Emergency responders successfully rescued the three injured individuals and transported them to a medical facility for treatment.

 

Confirming the incident, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, stated that the remaining occupants were evacuated from the building.

He added that the cylinder exploded due to a gas leak during the refilling process of an outdoor split air conditioner.
