A mother’s shocking act of killing her 15-year-old daughter and attempting to do the same to her other children before taking her own life was fueled by spite towards her husband who had abandoned them.
Living in Idumota, Lagos Island, Hafusat Ibuloye woke her daughter from sleep on Thursday, February 27, 2020, and administered a poisonous substance to her, as per The Nation report.
She also tried to give the same substance to her two younger children, but they refused to consume it. Hafusat then ingested the poison herself, leading to unconsciousness.
Neighbors discovered Hafusat and her teenage daughter in an unconscious state and rushed them to the hospital, but unfortunately, it was too late.
The publication revealed that Hafusat had been deeply affected by her husband’s prolonged absence, as he had moved to the USA without any communication for years. Upon his recent return to Nigeria, he did not make contact with Hafusat or their children. When she learned of his three-month stay in Nigeria without reaching out, it deeply upset her. However, no one could have anticipated that she would take such extreme actions.
