A tragic discovery was made as the corpse of Mrs. Idenyi Ebere Ukamaka was found in a gutter shortly after attending a morning prayer at St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.
Shortly after leaving her 11-day-old baby to attend the morning prayer, some body parts of the 35-year-old nursing mother were found burnt to ashes in the gutter at the back of Enugu North motor park along Afikpo Road.
After leaving her home on January 12 and failing to return, a search was conducted on the streets following a complaint by her husband, Idenyi Festus, at the police station, but she was not found.
Her husband confirmed the identity of the body found in the gutter on January 13. Police spokesperson Odah Loveth confirmed the incident and added that the remaining body parts have been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
