Tragic Collision on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Leaves Driver Dead and Three Injured

Tragedy struck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as an unidentified driver lost their life in a fatal collision, with at least three others sustaining injuries.

Reports from PUNCH Online reveal that the incident occurred at approximately 3:20 PM near the Forte Filling Station on the Sagamu stretch of the expressway.

State police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the crash involved a granite-loaded truck with license plate FKJ760XM and a Toyota bearing registration number JJJ926YJ.

The vehicles were en route from Ibadan to Lagos when the driver of the Toyota lost control and collided with the truck.

In the aftermath of the collision, Odutola mentioned that the Toyota driver was trapped in the vehicle and was subsequently taken to a hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the tragic loss of life.

“Having been extricated from the vehicle, he was rushed to Idera Hospital in Sagamu. The attending physician later pronounced him deceased. Two other occupants in the Toyota sustained injuries of varying severity,” Odutola explained.

Further reports indicate that the deceased driver’s body has been transferred to the hospital’s mortuary.

A separate incident in late July also resulted in casualties on the Ibafo segment of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where a collision involving a Peugeot bus with registration number WRA224XA and an orange DAF truck bearing registration number ANC711XA claimed two lives.
