A unique concept was at play during the 6th birthday photoshoot of Toyin Lawani’s son. The celebrity stylist had her son hawk fruits on the street to impart important values to him.
Providing insight into her decision, the serial entrepreneur mentioned that she wanted her son to “walk in the shoes of the less privileged for a day.”
Lawani elaborated that her son gained valuable lessons from this experience and was inquisitive about the process.
In a series of photos shared from the shoot, one striking image showed her son Tenor balancing a tray of oranges on his head. Lawani accompanied the pictures with a caption:
“For my son’s 6th Birthday shoot, I made him experience a day in the life of the less privileged by selling fruits on the streets and hawking in traffic. Despite a few people recognizing us, they didn’t show much interest. I even attempted to sell to them. I will share a video later to showcase the experience and the learnings. He bombarded me with questions when we returned home. Whenever we passed kids and I offered them money, he was always curious. Now he comprehends.

For those of us who were born with privileges, we must not overlook the circumstances and predicaments of others. It’s imperative to instill in our children the value of respecting all individuals regardless of their backgrounds. As parents, our duty is to teach our kids how to embrace others with compassion.
